A Message Has Arrived for You

These are God's promises for you today:

"I will deliver you."

"I will set you on high."

"I will answer when you call."

"I will be with you in trouble."

"I will deliver you and honor you."

Have you ever wished someone would truly stand by you, fight for you, and never leave your side?

Here is what you should understand:

God wants to be that someone for you.

When you are in danger, He will rescue you. When you feel small or defeated, He will lift you to a high place. When you call out, He will answer. When trouble surrounds you, He will be standing right there with you. To receive these promises, God simply asks that you love Him and know His name.

So always remember this:

You are not fighting alone.

The Creator of everything has promised to deliver you, protect you, answer you, stand with you, and honor you.

Trouble does not get the last word. God does.

The Story Behind The Verse: A Promise in the Wilderness
Psalm 91:14-15 - Story Behind the Verse

The Bible does not tell us the exact historical situation when Psalm 91 was written. We are not told the name of the human author or the specific event.

However, ancient Jewish tradition has understood Psalm 91 to be connected with Moses. Psalm 90 is explicitly introduced as "A prayer of Moses, the man of God," and Psalm 91 follows immediately after it. Many Jewish teachers therefore believed that Moses also wrote Psalm 91 during Israel's long journey through the wilderness.

So imagine the scene.

God has just brought Israel out of Egypt. Behind them lies the most powerful empire in the world. Ahead of them lies a vast and dangerous wilderness. There are no cities, no walls, and no human army to rely on. Every day carried real danger. There was no guaranteed supply of food or water. Enemies like the Amalekites attacked the Israelites.

In Psalm 91 verses 14-15, God Himself speaks, "Because he has set his love on me, therefore I will deliver him." For forty years, God delivered His people again and again. God provided manna from heaven every morning. He gave water from the rocks. He sent a pillar of cloud to shade them by day and a pillar of fire to guard them by night. When enemies attacked, God fought for them. When they cried out, God answered.

The same God who carried His people through a great wilderness is your God today. Whatever season you are walking through, God is with you and will help you.

What It Means

"Because he has set his love on me" (ื›ึดึผื™ ื‘ึดื™ ื—ึธืฉึทืืง / ki vi chashaq)

The Hebrew word chashaq means to cling to, to hold fast. It is an intentional choice of attachment. The same verb is used when God "sets His love" on Israel. It pictures someone binding their heart to God and refusing to let go.

"I will set him on high" (ืึฒืฉึทื‚ื’ึฐึผื‘ึตื”ื•ึผ / asagvehu)

The Hebrew word sagav means to be up high and inaccessible, safely out of reach. God places you in a secure position where the enemy cannot easily reach you. Like a fortress on a high rock, you are lifted to a place of security and honor.

"I will be with him in trouble" (ืขึดืžึผื•ึน ืึธื ึนื›ึดื™ ื‘ึฐืฆึธืจึธื” / imo anokhi be-tzarah)

The Hebrew word tzarah means distress and adversity. God does not promise a life without trouble. He promises He will be with you in the midst of the trouble. The phrase imo anokhi means "I Myself will be with him."

"I will deliver him and honor him" (ืึฒื—ึทืœึฐึผืฆึตื”ื•ึผ ื•ึทืึฒื›ึทื‘ึฐึผื“ึตื”ื•ึผ / achaletzehu va'achabdehu)

The Hebrew word chalats means to rescue, to draw out. The word kavad means to honor, to treat as valuable. God does not only pull you out of the trial. He restores dignity and shows that you are precious in His sight. He makes your story a testimony of His faithfulness.

Claim This Promise

I declare that the words of Psalm 91:14-15 are true in my life.

  • I set my love on God.
  • God delivers me from danger.
  • God sets me in a high and secure place.
  • God answers when I call to Him.
  • God is with me in the midst of my struggles.
  • God delivers me and honors me.
Today's Prayer

God,

You are the One I have been looking for. You are the help I need, the defender I long for, the companion who will never leave.

Thank You for these promises from Psalm 91:14-15. You will deliver me. You will set me on high. You will answer when I call. You will be with me in trouble. You will honor me.

When I feel surrounded by danger, remind me how You carried Your people through the wilderness. When I feel alone in my struggles, remind me that You promise to be with me in trouble. When I cry out and wonder if You hear me, remind me that You will answer.

I no longer have to feel alone or fight by myself. The Creator of everything is with me and for me.

Thank You for being the God who is always by my side.

In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
