All Things Together for Good ·

A Message Has Arrived for You

Psalm 103:2-5 verse card

These are God's promises for you today:

"He forgives all your sins"

"He heals all your diseases"

"He redeems your life from destruction"

"He crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies"

"He satisfies your desire with good things"

Sometimes, it can be easier to remember the pain, the setbacks, and the struggles. It is harder to remember the ways God has been faithful. In Psalm 103, David lifts his voice and says, "Praise the Lord." Then he declares what God does: He forgives all sins, heals all diseases, redeems life from destruction, crowns His people with love and mercy, satisfies them with good things, and renews their strength.

When we take time to remember what God has done, our perspective begins to change. Not because our circumstances are different, but because we see them in the light of God's faithfulness.

So always remember this:

Do not forget what God has done for you.

He has forgiven, healed, redeemed, and crowned you.

Remember His goodness to you and praise Him.

Deep Dive

The Story Behind The Verse: The God Who Does All These Things
Psalm 103:2-5 - Story Behind the Verse

Most scholars believe David wrote this psalm later in life, looking back on all he had been through. He had been overlooked by his own family members. He had spent years hiding in caves from Saul. He made mistakes and stumbled. He watched his infant son die and fled from Jerusalem when his son Absalom betrayed him. David knew suffering. He knew shame. He knew what it felt like to wonder if God had abandoned him.

Yet in Psalm 103, David is not listing his sorrows. He is declaring praise to the Lord. After all he had been through, David had come to know God by what God had done in the midst of his hardships.

So David lists what God does, one act after another. God forgives all sins. He heals all diseases. He redeems life from destruction. He crowns His people with loving kindness and tender mercies. He satisfies desires with good things. He renews strength like the eagle's. These are specific acts of God that David had experienced over the course of his life. David was declaring who God had been to him through every season.

The God David praised is the same God who has been working in your life. Remember His goodness and praise Him.

What It Means

"Praise the Lord" (בָּרְכִי אֶת־יְהוָה / barkhi et-YHWH)

The verb barak means to bless or to praise. It shows a posture of the soul. David is calling his own soul into alignment and wants to honor the Lord with intentional praise. This is not passive worship. It is a deliberate turning of the heart toward God.

"Who forgives all your sins" (הַסֹּלֵחַ לְכָל־עֲוֹנֵכִי / hasoleiach lechol-avonekhi)

The word salach means to forgive or to pardon. Avon means iniquity or sin. The inclusion of kol, meaning all, intensifies the promise. Every weight of iniquity is lifted. This is complete forgiveness, rooted in God's authority and mercy.

"Who heals all your diseases" (הָרֹפֵא לְכָל־תַּחֲלֻאָיְכִי / harofei lechol-tachaluaykhi)

Rapha means to heal, restore, and make whole. It refers to physical healing but also to deeper restoration. Tachaluim means diseases or sicknesses. The phrase suggests not only the curing of illness but the mending of what has been broken. God's healing is comprehensive and reaches into every area of life.

"Who redeems your life from destruction" (הַגּוֹאֵל מִשַּׁחַת חַיָּיְכִי / hago'el mishachat chayaykhi)

Ga'al means to redeem or to rescue. In ancient Israel, a 'kinsman-redeemer' was a close family member who would step in to buy back a relative who had fallen into debt or slavery, paying the price himself to restore them. Shachat means pit, destruction, or grave. God acts as your kinsman-redeemer, pulling you out of the pit and bringing you back to life.

"Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies" (הַמְעַטְּרֵכִי חֶסֶד וְרַחֲמִים / hame'atterekhi chesed verachamim)

Atar means to crown or to adorn. Chesed is steadfast covenant love, faithful and enduring. Rachamim is mercy and deep compassion. The imagery shifts dramatically here. From the pit of destruction in the previous verse to a crown in this one. God does not only pull you out of the lowest place, He lifts you to the highest. He surrounds your life with faithful love and compassionate mercy, treating you with the honor and dignity of royalty.

"Who satisfies your desire with good things" (הַמַּשְׂבִּיעַ בַּטּוֹב עֶדְיֵךְ / hamasbia batov edyekh)

The verb sava means to fill to the point of fullness. Tov speaks of what is good, beneficial, and pleasing in God's sight. This is not fleeting satisfaction but a deep filling of the soul. God does not merely meet needs. He satisfies with what is truly good.

"Your youth is renewed like the eagle's" (תִּתְחַדֵּשׁ כַּנֶּשֶׁר נְעוּרָיְכִי / titchadesh kanesher ne'urayikhi)

Chadash means to renew or to make new. Nesher is the eagle, a symbol of strength. Ne'urim means youth or vigor. God promises renewal of strength. This is an ongoing restoration.
