All Things Together for Good ·

Philippians 4:13 verse card

A Message Has Arrived for You

These are God's promises for you today:

"I can do all things through Christ."

"Christ strengthens me."

Are you facing something right now that feels beyond your capacity right now?

Know that you do not have to carry it alone.

When we as Christians rely on Jesus Christ and receive strength from him, we can do all things.

Whatever responsibility or problems you are facing, bring it to God.

When we only focus on the problems we have, the problems can seem so big. But when we place our faith in the almighty, all-powerful God, the problems are put into perspective and become much smaller.

So today, if you have come across problems completely out of your control or strength, then it is time to lean in and ask Christ for His strength. When you ask, He will surely walk with you through this season of struggling.

So always remember this:

Christ is the source of your strength.

When Christ is with you, you truly can do all things.

Deep Dive

The Story Behind The Verse: Strength that comes from Christ
Philippians 4:13 - Story Behind the Verse

Philippi was a Roman colony named after Philip II of Macedon, the father of Alexander the Great, who conquered and fortified the city. It served as a strategic center connecting Asia and Europe, as well as the East and the West.

During Paul's second missionary journey, Paul saw a vision from God instructing him to go to Macedonia. In response, he changed his plans from going to Asia to going to Europe and carried out his ministry in Philippi. This is a major turning point in the Book of Acts, as it marks the gospel's spread into the Western world. As the first church in Europe, the church had people from diverse races, classes, and cultures.

Around AD 60-62, Paul was imprisoned and wrote this letter to the Church of Philippi. Paul by this point had suffered greatly for his faith in Jesus. In every hardship, when he turned to Christ in prayer, he experienced Christ answering him and giving him strength. Through the trials he went through, Paul knew that the source of his strength came from Jesus Christ. Paul wrote in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." He was not relying on his own will power or strength. Christ sustained him and strengthened him so that he could powerfully take on all obstacles and trials that came his way. The same Christ who strengthened Paul throughout his ministry strengthens you today.

What It Means

"I can do all things" (πάντα ἰσχύω / panta ischyō)

"Can do" is the Greek word ischyō, meaning to be strong, to have power, to endure. This is about enduring through every circumstance with a strong faith intact. Paul is saying "I can face anything that comes without being overcome."

"Through Christ who strengthens me" (ἐν τῷ ἐνδυναμοῦντί με / en tō endynamounti me)

"Strengthens" is the Greek word endynamoō, meaning to empower from within, to strengthen inwardly. This is a present-tense verb, emphasizing continuous action. Christ is constantly pouring strength into you.

Claim This Promise

I declare that the words of Philippians 4:13 are true in my life.

  • My strength comes from Christ.
  • Christ strengthens me from within.
  • I can do all things through Christ.
Today's Prayer

God,

I often try to endure in my own strength. When I keep projecting needlessness and neglect my vulnerability, I find that I become completely exhausted.

But today, through Your Word, I now understand that true strength comes from Christ.

God, would You renew my heart today? In all that I will encounter, may I live continually strengthened and filled by You.

When I receive strength from Christ, I can do all things. I can endure and even triumph over all the hardships and obstacles I may face.

Thank You for abundantly pouring your strength into me today.

In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
