A Message Has Arrived for You

These are God's promises for you today:

"I will be with you"

"Wherever you go, you will prosper"

Have you ever worried about whether your efforts will succeed?

This concern is addressed in todayโ€™s verse. 2 Kings 18:7 is about King Hezekiah. He diligently obeyed God and put His words into action. When Hezekiah did this, God took responsibility for the results. God brought prosperity wherever Hezekiah went.

Hezekiah's story shows us that God is aware of every effort we make in faithfulness to Him. He sees your work when you honor Him. He promises His presence, and that His purposes will not fail. Walk with Him in faithfulness, and trust that He is working in ways beyond what you can see. Know that He is with you. He will provide so that wherever you go you will prosper.

So always remember this:

God is with you.

When you obey and do your best, God takes care of the rest.

God takes responsibility for your results.

Wherever you go, you will prosper.

Deep Dive

The Story Behind The Verse: One Choice That Changed Everything
2 Kings 18:7 - Story Behind the Verse

Hezekiah became king of Judah at age 25 (2 Kings 18:2), but what awaited him was a series of obstacles. His father, King Ahaz, had submitted to Assyria as a vassal state, sending silver and gold from the temple as tribute. King Ahaz also filled the land with idolatry, worshiping foreign gods and even sacrificing his own son in fire (2 Kings 16:3-4). When Hezekiah took the throne, the people of Judah had turned their hearts from God.

Hezekiah made one choice that changed everything. He looked to God alone rather than the seemingly impossible circumstances in front of him. 2 Kings 18:3 says: "He did that which was right in God's eyes, according to all that David his father had done."

What did Hezekiah do that was right in God's eyes? First, he trusted God completely. "He trusted in the God of Israel; so that after him there was no one like him among all the kings of Judah" (2 Kings 18:5). Second, he obeyed God's word without compromise (2 Kings 18:6). Third, he removed all idols, including popular worship sites (2 Kings 18:4). Fourth, he reopened the temple doors and restored worship (2 Chronicles 29:3). Fifth, he called the entire nation back to God (2 Chronicles 30:6).

King Hezekiah obeyed God and restored the nation. When King Hezekiah did his best, God took the rest into his hands and took responsibility for it. God brought prosperity into his life. "God was with him. Wherever he went out, he prospered" (2 Kings 18:7). He won battles and survived impossible odds when 185,000 Assyrian soldiers surrounded Jerusalem. Later, when King Hezekiah cried out to God, God even healed him from a deadly illness (2 Kings 18:8; 19:35; 20:5-6).

What It Means

"Yahweh was with him" (ื•ึทื™ึฐื”ึดื™ ื™ึฐื”ื•ึธื” ืขึดืžึผื•ึน / vayhi YHWH immo)

The Hebrew immo means "with him," but this is not passive presence. This is active partnership where God takes Hezekiah's side, fights for him, and opens doors for him. When God is "with" someone in Scripture, it means divine favor, protection, guidance, and power are at work in their life.

"Wherever he went out" (ื‘ึฐึผื›ึนืœ ืึฒืฉึถืืจึพื™ึตืฆึตื / bekhol asher yetse)

The phrase 'bekhol asher yetse' means "in all that he went out to do." This is comprehensive success, not limited to one area. Wherever King Hezekiah went, whatever he attempted, God brought prosperity. God brought prosperty to work of Hezekiah's hands in religion, politics, military, administration, and more. This shows that when God is with you His blessing extends to every area of your life.

"He prospered" (ื™ึทืฉึฐื‚ื›ึดึผื™ืœ / yaskil)

The Hebrew sakal means to act wisely, to succeed, and to prosper. This is prosperity that comes from acting on God's wisdom. It means making wise decisions, seeing good results, and experiencing success that lasts. When God is with you, you act on wisdom that leads to real, lasting prosperity.

"He rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him" (ื‘ึฐึผืžึถืœึถืšึฐึพืึทืฉึผืื•ึผืจ ืžึธืจึธื“ / bemelekh ashur marad)

The word 'marad' means to rebel and to refuse to serve. Hezekiah stopped paying tribute to Assyria, the most powerful empire of his time. This was a bold act of faith. Hezekiah chose to trust God rather than rely on political alliances, and God honored that trust.

Claim This Promise

I declare that the words of 2 Kings 18:7 are true in my life.

  • I trust God completely and follow His ways.
  • God is with me. He is working in my life.
  • Under God's guidance, wherever I go, I will prosper.
Today's Prayer

God,

Thank You for being with me and blessing me with prosperity.

I confess that I have often been anxious about whether my efforts will succeed. When I am anxious, remind me that my job is to obey and do my best. Then You will take responsibility for the outcomes. Teach me to rest in this truth.

Today I choose to live by your words in every area of my life. Give me wisdom and strength to do my best in everything I undertake. Give me the courage to make decisions that honor You, even when they seem unwise by worldly standards. Help me to trust that You are with me and that You will bring prosperity to what I do.

I believe that wherever I go, You are with me and You will prosper me.

In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
